Remote Learning

At Herrick Primary School, we believe that children learn best through attending school in person. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when a child, class or group of pupils is unable to attend school but is still able to continue learning.

When remote learning is required, we aim to provide meaningful and accessible learning that follows our school curriculum as closely as possible. Learning may include teacher guidance, independent activities, reading, practical tasks and carefully selected online resources.

Remote learning will be adapted appropriately for pupils’ age, needs and individual circumstances. If a family experiences difficulties accessing a suitable device or the internet, or if a child requires additional support to access their learning, parents/carers should contact the school.

Accessing Remote Learning

Currently, remote learning will be shared using Microsoft Teams and/or school email, depending on the circumstances. We are preparing to move our remote learning provision to Google Classroom. Families will receive information, login details and guidance before this change takes place.

Staying Safe Online

When learning remotely, pupils should continue to follow our school expectations: Be Safe, Be Kind and Be Responsible. Pupils should use school-approved accounts and resources, protect their personal information and tell a trusted adult if anything online makes them feel worried or uncomfortable.

Remote Learning Policy.
